BLITZ Season 3 to be called legacy, Details released.

On May 16th BLITZ announced their next event: Season 3. Similar to Season two, which was titled "Asylum," Season 3 is called "Legacy." BLITZ Legacy will be the first North American Tier 3 event played on SiegeX.


The event will consist of 16 total teams comprised of 8 invited teams to be revealed later, and 8 teams from two open qualifiers. The event is designed to foster increasing levels of competition and difficulty as it progresses the the different phases. The full event breakdown and links to signup are below.



BLITZ Season 3 will consist of 4 Phases:

  1. Qualifiers.

  2. GSL Groups Part 1.

  3. GSL Groups Part 2.

  4. Single Elimination Playoffs.

Phase-By-Phase Breakdown:


Phase 1: Qualifiers: May 30th-June 1st & June 6th-June 8th Qualifier Format: The open portion will be on Friday and Saturday and will consist of 8 Rounds of Swiss Best-of-1s. Each team will play 4 matches per day UNLESS a team accumulates 4 losses which will result in elimination from the qualifier. After round 8 the top 16 teams from the open qualifier based on standings will progress to the closed qualifier. Matches will begin at 6pm EDT each day and be played on a rolling schedule.

The closed portion will be on Sunday and will be a single elimination bracket with 16 teams. The bracket will be based on seeding from open qualifiers and be best of 3s. Teams will play two games to try and qualify for Phase 2. The top 4 teams from closed qualifiers will earn a spot in Phase 2 of BLITZ Season 3.



Phase 2: GSL Groups: June 13th - June 16th

Phase 2 consists of 8 teams divided into 2 GSL groups of 4. Teams will be placed in groups based on their seeding from the closed qualifiers. The opening matches will be best-of-1, and the winner, loser, and decider matches will be best-of-3. At the end of Phase 2, 4 teams (2 per group) will advance to Phase 3. Group 1:

Qual 1 seed 1 vs Qual 2 seed 4

Qual 1 seed 3 vs Qual 2 seed 2


Group 2:

Qual 1 seed 2 1 vs Qual 2 seed 3

Qual 1 Seed 4 vs Qual 2 seed 1

Phase 3: GSL Groups: June 19th - June 22nd

Phase 3 consists of 8 teams divided into 2 GSL groups of 4. 4 teams will be invited to Phase 3 and divided equally among the groups with the teams that advance from Phase 2. Just like Phase 2, The opening matches will be best-of-1, and the winner, loser, and decider matches will be best-of-3. At the end of Phase 3, 4 teams (2 per group) will advance to Phase 4.

Group 1:

Invite #1 vs Phase 2 team

Invite #2 vs Phase 2 team


Group 2:

Invite #3 vs Phase 2 team

Invite #4 vs Phase 2 team

June 19th: Opening matches

June 20th: Winner matches

June 21st: Loser matches

June 22nd: Decider matches

Phase 4: June 24th-June 29th

Phase 4 of BLITZ Legacy will consist of a single elimination playoff bracket totaling 8 teams. 4 teams will be directly invited, and 4 teams will qualify from Phase 3. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be best-of-3, and Season 3 will conclude with a best-of-5 Grand Final featuring INFINITE overtime. The Quarterfinal Format is as follows:

Invite #1 vs Phase 3 team

Invite #2 vs Phase 3 team

Invite #3 vs Phase 3 team

Invite #4 vs Phase 3 team


The day-by-day breakdown of Phase 4 is as follows:

June 24th: Quarterfinal #1 & #2

June 25th: Quarterfinal #3 & #4

June 27th: Semifinals

June 29th Grand Final

Matches begin at 6pm EDT and are rolling schedule after that.



Players have 3 options when signing up for BLITZ Season 3:

  1. Single Qualifier Pass: $35

  2. Double Qualifier Pass: $50

  3. Double Qualifier Pass + RIOT Entry: $75


The triple pass is a special promotion that will only be offered until May 23rd at 11:59pm EDT with RIOT Season 2 starting on May 24th. Signups for Season 3 and RIOT are on OPL. (linked below) Join the BLITZ official Discord to participate in qualifiers, ask any questions, and attend the mandatory captains meeting at 5:30 pm EDT before the start of each qualifier on Friday May 30th and June 6th. ALL PARTICIPATING TEAMS MUST JOIN THE DISCORD SERVER FOR QUALIFIERS

The prize pool for BLITZ Legacy will begin at $2000 USD with the possibility to increase based on how much is generated via entry fees. BLITZ is entirely funded via entry fees so the number of participating teams correlates with how much the prize pool will scale.

Base prizes are as follows: 1st: $1500 2nd: $300 3rd: $100

4th: $100 numbers subject to change
